CLAIRE HOUSE APPEAL

On bank holiday Monday 2nd May, Louis Rockafella and 4 members of his band, Jan, Judd, Lol and Mike, helped out at a fundraiser for Claire House - kids with cancer. Performing at a venue in Southport, Rob Addis-Hopcraft of Black Lace "Agadoo" hosted the event. Mike Heybourne owner of MD Travel Southport, donated his limousines and fire engine limousines for the day, raising money in exchange for a limo ride ! The bad weather did not put off the crowds of people who turned up to support the event. There were over 10 guest singers who had travelled over from South Yorkshire with Rob to perform a few songs for the audiences. Everyone had a great time !

Amount raised to be confirmed.

Berties Banqueting Hall, Halifax - Las Vegas Theme Event for Terberg UK

Lucy Watkins of Terberg UK organised a charity ball in aid of the Anthony Nolan Trust (the charity for Leukaemia) and it was held at Berties Banqueting Rooms, Elland, Hallifax, Yorkshire. The theme of the event was Las Vegas so the entertainment had to be in keeping with this theme. There was a three course dinner followed by a charity auction. Las Vegas style entertainment included Louis Rockafella as Elvis, a walk round magician, Las vegas dancing girls, a Frank Sinatra tribute singer with band, gaming tables roulette, craps etc. and Eugene Portman Jazz Pianist (see photo below). We send our best wishes and good Luck to Lucy who will be walking up Mt. Kilimanjaro in March to raise funds for the charity.

Above Right: Louis is presented with a certificate of appreciation for the sum of £3111. raised from The Spirit Of Elvis Concert. Photos taken June 2004.

On Thurday 26th February 2004, Louis Rockafella held a Grand Charity Elvis Show Concert at East End Park, WMC, Leeds. It was an event that had took many months of planning by Louis, his father Louis Snr and brother Christopher and family which in total raised more than £6000 for Cookridge Cancer Hospital.

The event was held in memory of Louis mother Betty Fella who passed away at Cookridge Cancer Hospital last October 2003. Betty was a huge fan of Elvis and had always supported her son Louis by attending his shows whenever she was well enough.

The total figure raised on the night by the 330 strong crowd was approx £3311. Added to the figure was £1200 donated by shoppers at The White Rose Shopping Centre from over the Christmas period 2003, and £1400 was donated by shoppers at Matalan, Leeds.

The evening events included Louis Rockafella's Elvis Tribute Show plus entertainment from Mr Las Vegas, international vocalist Garry Robbie from Bury, a good friend of Louis' who donated his time for the cause.

There was a Grand Prize Draw which included a 32" TV donated by Brian Eaton of Mirfield Finance, plus two top of the range hi-fi systems donated by Ian Fella of IMF Systems. There was a Guitar donated by Academy of Sound - Leeds, a petrol lawn mower and many other prizes donated by Betty's husband Louis Fella Snr.

During the evening an auction was held for a ride home with Elvis (Louis) travelling in style in a 4x4 Luxury White Stretch Limousine donated by Mike Heybourne of MD Travel, Southport raising £150. Mike had also supported the charity by supplying two stretch limousines to transport many of Louis friends who are based in Southport so that they could attend the show.

It was a fantastic night that was a sell out weeks in advance. Due to the huge positive response for this event, Louis and his family have stated that they will be planning another event sometime in the future possibly around the 2nd September 2004. Louis and his father Louis Snr would like to thank everyone who came along to the show, and who donated their time, and donated prizes for the raffle and auction. Betty would be very proud of what was achieved by everyone who was involved with the fundraising events held in her memory.  We all hope that the funds raised help in some way to relieve the suffering caused by the dreadful Cancer illness and hopefully one day find a cure.

Louis Rockafella will be seen on our TV screens in the near future appearing in the new AOL 9 TV commercial.

All shook up - by a visit from 'Elvis'

A cancer sufferer had her wish come true when the king of rock'n'roll landed at the door step.

Margaret Whitemen 59, of Raven Park, Helmshore. was given a surprise visit by her favourite Elvis impersonator Louis Rockafella. Margaret, who has nine grandchildren and is married to Colin 62, was overwhelmed when Louis pulled up outside her bungalow in his white in his white Rolls-Royce. The couple fell in love with Louis when they first saw him perform in Accrington more than two years ago.

Over the last couple of years Margaret has been suffering from a rare form of incurable cancer, linked to the bowel, and regularly attends Christies Hospital, in Manchester.

During her time in hospital she passed the hours away by listening to Louis's CDs and speaking to him on the phone nearly every day. When she missed his last concert, Louis and his wife Jaqnet decided to pay Margaret a special visit.

Margaret said "I was shocked when I saw them pull up. I heard some kids shouting Elvis is here and I wondered what on earth they were talking about. Its a dream come true as Louis is my favourite Elvis impersonator."

Louis who lives in Ormskirk, added "It was Janet's idea to do this because Margaret never misses seeing me perform so when she couldn't make it to the last concert we thought we would do something to cheer her up"

Margaret and Colin are hoping to make it to the next gig which is to be held in Nelson, at the Palatine Club, on September 10.

Above writing by Charlotte Bradshaw

from Lancashire Evening Telegraph 24th August 2004

Additional Info below (not published )

The show on 10th September will be the opening night of the newly renovated New Palatine Club, Nelson and Louis will be performing with his very own 6 piece band The Dixie Mafia. Another show in the area is on Friday October 22nd in The Kingstreet, Club, Accrington where he will be bringing along a special guest Buddy Holly. (details on Events List page)

Louis is no stanger the the Cancer illness. Only last year in October 2004, Louis lost his own mother to Cancer very suddenly, only a few days after he had just returned home from performing his show in USA.  Louis mother was a big Elvis fan and only 2yrs before she passed away, he took her on a surprise trip to Elvis home in Graceland, her lifelong ambition.

In February this year in his mother Bettys memory, Louis performed for the Betty Fella Memorial Concert in Leeds and raised in total more than £6000 for Cookridge Cancer Hospital, Yorkshire.

Since then his father Luigi has been diagnosed with throat Cancer and is attending the same hospital. Also this coming October Louis will be helping the Macmillan Cancer charity by performing at a high profile event entitled "Viva Las Vegas "with comedian Johnny Vegas in Liverpool.

Later after dropping in on Margaret Whiteman, Louis continued on his King of Hearts day trip by calling in on another lady at her home in Empress Street, Lower Darwen. Muriel Newton also a big fan of Louis Rockafella, has addmitted that she plays Louis "Spirit of Elvis" CD non-stop every day, just ask the neighbours ! Muriel is also suffering from cancer and when Louis dropped by to bring her his latest new CD "The Spirit of Elvis Vol.2" - She was thrilled! Really brightened up her day ! Muriel is also hoping that she will be well enough to see Louis shows in Palatine and Kingstreet coming soon.
