World's Greatest Elvis
- BBC 1 September 2007
|
|
Are you
wondering if Louis was on the show? We are
pleased to inform you that Louis was
infact approached by the producers
of the show, as they wanted to film Louis
not only at his home but also while performing
one of his shows. The BBC wanted Louis
to be included in the show representing
Great Britain, as Louis is the first ever
Elvis Tribute in the UK to tour with Elvis
Presley's original backing singers "The
Sweet Inspirations"
(see page) and is regarded as one of the
World's Greatest Elvis tributes. Louis declined
the BBC's offer as he was already booked
to perform for Elton
John at his home in Windsor, for his "White
Tie and Tiara Ball".

BBC1 LOOK NORTH NEWS
- February 2005

The
filming for BBC1 Look North
Shaun
Stowell on the trail of Elvis
(photos
above, in order from top to bottom.)
"Louis
Rockafella is about to make Elvis history,
he is about to be crowned King of all Elvis'
for a very special Elvis reason, making
all the other Elvis' in Britain extremely
jealous!" BBC
At
5am Louis was driven by Limo from
his home in Southport to Leeds, the town
where he was born. The camera crew and Look
North presenter Shaun Stowell were collected from the
BBC
studios in Leeds.
"Louis
has got showbusiness running through his
veins, a real asset when Police unexpectedly
carry out a road side spot check on his
Limo"
On the way to the first
destianation the Limo was pulled over
for a spot check by the police. After a
short delay they arrived at Academy of Sound
in Leeds. Louis performed a few songs in
the store, and was also interviewed for
Radio. Janet was also interviewed.
"Re-visiting
his Leeds roots today, his Mum who died
last year is never far from his thoughts."
BBC
After
quite some time there, back into the Limo
Louis was interviewed about his forthcoming
tour with The Sweet Inspirations. He also
talked about his love for his family and
his late mother Betty.
"The
Sweet Inspirations have blessed Louis with
the Kings seal of approval, by agreeing
to go on tour with him later this year.
It's never been done before, never has a
British impersonator come so close to stepping
into Elvis' shoes" BBC
From here they continued
to Asda's at Leeds, to surprise his family.
Louis father Luigi was waiting for him,
along with Louis sister Pam, niece
and baby daughter. Many other members of Louis family, work at the same store
and so he went to surprise them!
"I'm
not any old Elvis because I am touring with
Elvis' original backing singers The Sweet
Inspirations" LR
The
TV presenter interviewed Louis and his sister
and niece, unfortunately Louis dad was unable
to be interviewed as he has limited speech
due to suffering from cancer. Everyone then took
a short lunch break before they then continued to Louis
old school in Leeds, meeting his old teacher
who is still working there. The
TV crew interviewed Louis and his teacher,
before calling it a day at 3.30pm Over
2hrs of footage was taken over the 6 hrs
of filming. It was a very exhausting day.
The
footage was edited down to just 2-3 minutes.
The finished article included a large piece
about Louis and his Mum, a large section
about the tour and about the Sweet Inspirations,
at the school with his teacher, Academy
of Sound performing a song,a two second
clip of Louis in Asda and the police stop
check. Many items and interviews with
wife Janet and with his family at Asda where
also cut. The finished article was broadcast
2 days later on BBC1 Look North.
"On
his voyage of self rediscovery he returns
to his old school in Leeds. He is the Prince
of all Elvis' and soon he will be the King
of all Elvis" BBC
"
Appearing in Leeds, 25th and 26th May, part
of a tour that will certainly turn Britain's
army of Elvis'
GREEN
WITH ENVY ! "
BBC
